Richard Allen Lawless, 71, of Dallas, Texas went to be with Jesus on August 24, 2025. The same day his father did four years ago. He was surrounded by his wife and children at his bedside.

Richard was born on January 11, 1954 to Darrell and Mary Jo Lawless (Horton) in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Westchester High School in 1972, and from Texas Tech University in 1976 with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration and Marketing.

He went on to date the love of his life, Janis Pope, for ten years. They finally married at the top of their heart shaped pool in their backyard on September 10, 1988. Richard and Janis had two children, Stefani in 1991, and Vaughn in 1993. He was expecting his first granddaughter this upcoming January.

Richard, along with his father, Darrell, and wife, Janis, started The Lawless Group company almost 50 years ago with a powerful idea and unwavering dedication to serve his customers. Over the years, Richard started several other companies including Pro Line Products and seven Lawless Sales Agencies across the country. He also acquired companies such as Overtime and Pro Line Chemical & Plastics. His passion, leadership, culture and love for all his employees and work were the driving forces behind their growth and success. He always said, "it is never me, it is we."

He loved to spend his free time at his ranch in East Texas, Pine Star. He tried to never miss a good sunrise, or sunset. Richard's favorite place to watch the sunset was at his house boat, The Pig Sty, in Arkansas on Lake Ouatchita. He loved helping and taking care of people, even if he had known them for only five minutes. Richard absolutely adored all animals, especially his teacup Pomeranian, Prince. He even had a pet alligator growing up. He was a "doggie grandpa" and had a special bond with his son's dog, Rocko, and his daughters', Porter.

Remaining to cherish Richard's memory and continue his legacy are his spouse, Janis Lawless, his children, Stefani and Alex Anderson and Vaughn Lawless, his brothers, Gary and Bob Lawless, and his sister, Leann Goodwin.

Preceding Richard in death were his parents, Darrell and Mary Jo Lawless.
