Sgt. Richard J. Lonsberry, age 66, of San Antonio, Texas passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2024. He was born on April 26, 1958, to Bud and Trudy Lonsberry in Ladd AFB, Alaska.
Rick was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He graduated from Samuel Clemens High School before serving in the Army, where he excelled in Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and Criminal Investigations (CID). Over his nine years of service, he earned the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and Army Good Conduct Medal. Although his work took him away from Texas for some time, he always said he "got back here as fast as he could."
Rick is preceded in death by his mother and father, Bud and Trudy Lonsberry; and wife of 28 years, Holly Collinge Lonsberry.
He is survived by his children, Lauren (Christian) Dewald, Marc Mercury, Emelia (Ellie) Lonsberry; grandchild Austin Dewald; siblings, Mike Lonsberry, Barbara Caraway, Charlie (Janet) Lonsberry, Rod (Patti) Collinge, Dawn Collinge, Glenn (Jill) Collinge; 11 nieces and nephews; and 21 grand nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made by a donation to Soldier's Angels.
A viewing for Rick will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at FuneralCaringUSA, 2621 Mossrock, San Antonio, TX 78230. A funeral service with Military Honors will be held Wednesday, January 15 10:30 AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
