Richard Allen Lucero passed away on September 28, 2025. Richard was born on November 9, 1946 in Trinidad, Colorado to Manuel and Faye Lucero. Richard was preceded in death by his parents Manuel Lucero and Faye Lucero; father-in-law Manuel Vigil and mother-in-law Alice Vigil; step daughter, Julie Velasquez; brother Manuel Lucero Jr.; sister Frances Gonzales; and many other nephews and nieces. He is survived by his wife Bernice Lucero, Alamosa, CO; Step-Children Bruce Salazar, Pueblo, CO; Maria Salazar, Pueblo, CO; brother Ron Lucero, Westminster; cousin Joe Martinez; grandchildren Britt (Mike) Zappanti, Elizabeth, CO; Ron (Christina) Lopez, Alamosa, CO; Bruce Salazar II, Pueblo, CO; Josh Salazar, Pueblo, CO; Josieana (Daylan) Trancoso, Aurora, CO; Kasen (Rubee) McMillan; great grandchildren Lilliani Morris, Faith Salazar, Dre Lopez, Shiloh Shaffer, Kaylani Kates; brothers-in-law Ronnie Vigil, Manuel Vigil, Patrick (Connie) Vigil, Kenneth Vigil; sisters-in-law Jeanie (Tony) Archuleta, Marie (Lee) Vigil, Kathy Muniz, Diane Pacheco, Debbie (Byron) Daily; Emily Vigil. Richard attended Trinidad Public Schools graduating in 1964. He attended TSJC – Denver Area Meat Cutting School and worked at Safeway from where he retired in 2002. He served in the United States Army and was a member of the 101st Airborne Division. Richard loved to go fishing, hunting, doing daily crossword puzzles, watching the Broncos and spending time with family. He will be remembered for his warmth, resilience, and the loving way he cared for his family and friends. A Memorial Mass will take place at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa, CO at 1:00 PM on November 8, 2025.
