Cecilia Lucero, a beloved member of her community, was born on July 12, 1928, and passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025.
Cecilia was preceded by her son Christobal Lucero; father Christobal Lucero; and mother Arsenia Lucero.
She is survived by daughter Lisa Lucero; grandson Jude Lucero, and niece Linda Saavedra.
A proud New Mexican, Cecilia spent her life in Albuquerque, where she created a warm and loving home filled with family and faith.
Cecilia was deeply devoted to her Catholic upbringing and was an active member of St. Anne's Parish. Her unwavering faith was evident in her daily rituals, including her cherished practice of praying the rosary. Cecilia’s spiritual devotion was matched only by her love for her family, who were the center of her universe. She took immense joy in the company of her four nieces, who brought light and laughter into her life.
A woman of simple tastes, Cecilia found great pleasure in the little things, such as savoring her favorites—red chile and beans with tortillas. She enjoyed unwinding with a good book or indulging in her favorite novelas, which provided both entertainment and solace. Her visits to Linda in Las Cruces were particularly special, as these moments nourished the bonds that she held dear.
In addition to her passion for reading and television, Cecilia had a remarkable collection of saints and Catholic candles, each with a story that spoke to her reverence for her faith and her commitment to honoring her beliefs. Her legacy of love, devotion, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
Cecilia Lucero will be remembered not only for her faith and family devotion but also for the joy she brought into the lives of everyone around her. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the memories cherished by her family and loved ones.
