To Wayne’s family. I am deeply sorry to read of Wayne’s passing. We are distant relatives. My mother was niece to his grandmother Hattie. Hattie was my grandfather’s sister. As Wayne once wrote to me; those Claypools are everywhere ! I loved reading A Strenuous Day and have promoted the book to many.
Again my deepest condolences.
Molly McKeown Melcher.

I wasn't aware until today (Feb. 10, 2020) that Wayne had passed away. He was a great supporter of the Yates County History Center in Penn Yan and a mentor of sorts to me as a retired history teacher who got into research and writing local history. Wayne will be missed.

I am so saddened to hear of Wayne's passing. He was my professor of social studies methods at Geneseo in the '70 spring semester...50 years ago. Wayne was a truly inspiring educator. We kept in touch with holiday cards over the years and he was so supportive of my career as a social studies teacher and then as an elementary principal and on in retirement. I had the good fortune to teach social studies methods on the grad and undergrad levels and made special mention of Wayne all the time. My prayers and condolences go out to the family. The world is a better place...I am in a better place because of Wayne Mahood.

"Mentor" is the theme of many of these remembrances. So true; Dr.Mahood was my mentor too. He saw potential in me that I couldn't imagine. I am forever grateful.
A stop in Geneseo from out-of-state wasn't complete without a visit with the Mahoods. A # 1 priority!
Dr.Mahood has left a legacy that has touched, and will continue to touch, so many--far and wide.
With prayers and love for Bobbi and Family.

Wayne was a wonderful mentor to whom I owe a great deal of my career success. Many Social Studies and other subject teachers took what they learned from Wayne and went into schools and changed the lives of children. The world in western New York and beyond has been enriched by his legacy.

I am so sorry for your loss. I will always remember that Wayne encouraged me to be an educator. He and Bobbi took me to the Avon Inn to receive a scholarship in education. Still teaching after all these years. It was good to see you a few years ago at a Geneseo football game. What a sensational career you had and what an outstanding husband, father , and grandfather. You will be missed by many.

I knew Dr. Mahood as an undergraduate and student teacher at Greece Athena Jr.-Sr. High School in the early 70s. From 1974-75 I was his graduate assistant in the Geneseo Education department. He was a gentleman and a scholar, and I appreciate everything he taught me. Bobbie, my deepest sympathy to you and your family.

I alway's enjoyed speaking with "Wayne" when he called into Roch. Inter. Medicine or running into him at Wegman's Geneseo. Such a wonderful man, alway's pleasant no matter how ill he was.

My favorite teacher at Geneseo. I invited him to my retirement party when I retired from teaching. He was a wonderful, gifted man and I am proud to have known him.
