Richard "Rick" Ernest Marchand, born July 8th, 1959, passed April 19th, 2025. Rick's parents were Earl and Sherry (Swan) Marchand. Rick attended school in Port Angeles, WA, and graduated in 1978. Rick attended Spokane Community College and graduated in 1980 as a mechanic specializing in small engines. Rick married Jolene Rector after college. Jolene and Rick had their son Travis in 1982. Rick was a tenacious handyman with countless skills. Throughout his life, he had many jobs. Rick was a crew boss for a 20-man wildland firefighting team. He was a firefighter for Mt. Tolman, a fire lookout at the Omak Mountain Fire Lookout Tower, he worked at Highway Tire, The Colville Confederated Tribes Green House, Jackson's, and finally retired after years as the maintenance manager for the town of Nespelem. Rick was a musician at heart. He was a drummer in high school; his love for drumming continued after high school, and he played the drums for many local bands. He was also a great singer and played the guitar. Rick loved rodeos and was able to be a rodeo clown at various rodeos across eastern Washington. Rick knew the Lord and was a very active member and leader at the Nespelem Catholic Church. He was passionate about the Cursillo movement and helped hundreds of brothers and sisters make it through the Cursillo program on the Colville Indian Reservation. Rick was a resilient man, a 15-year cancer survivor with 16 years of sobriety. Funny, hard-working, and a friend to all, Rick truly loved and lived life to the fullest. He is survied by his partner Sally Hutton and her children Chad, Whitney, Alicia, and Mussa, his son Travis and granddaughter Madison, his son Shane and family, his step-daughter Sara and family, his Stepmother Winnie, sister in law Dalene, brothers Don, David, and sister Tami, aunt Diane, Uncle Duane and lifelong friend David Brownfield, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Rick is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Steve and Tod. Rosary will be held on Thursday, April 24th, at 7 pm at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nespelem. The funeral will be on Friday, April 25th, at 10 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
