Richard L. “Dick” Markley, 83, of Cumberland Gap, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at the Claiborne Medical Center in Tazewell, Tennessee. He was born on September 14, 1942 in San Francisco, California, and was the son of the late Leon and Inez Wise Markley. Dick was a believer of the Baptist faith and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. After finishing his time in the Navy, Dick went to work for the Corning Glass Works Company for many years, and then retired after twenty years as a computer analyst with Messenger Corporation, in Auburn, Indiana.
Dick is survived by his wife of 63 years, Donna Frauhiger Markley of Cumberland Gap; son, Derek Markley and wife, Ashley of Tupelo, Mississippi; grandchildren, Abbey and Owen; and many special friends and neighbors made in their especially loved Cumberland Gap community.
Private cremation services were cared for at the Arnett & Steele Cremation Center. The Arnett & Steele Valley Chapel in Harrogate, Tennessee is honored to be serving the Markley family.
