Richard "Ricky" Martinez, born on April 26, 1964, passed away on August 14, 2025, in Grants, New Mexico. He was a deeply cherished individual who dedicated most of his life to a rewarding career in construction. Ricky's unwavering commitment to his work reflected his strong work ethic, instilling pride in all those who had the opportunity to know him.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Ricky was an avid fisherman and hunter, finding joy and solace in the mountains. He spent countless hours seeking out deer and elk horns, but perhaps his greatest delight came from taking his grandchildren fishing, a treasured pastime that allowed him to make lasting memories with them.

Ricky's family played a central role in his life. He leaves behind his beloved partner, Lisa Sandoval, and is survived by his daughter, Camille Sandoval, and son Daniel (Andrea) Sandoval. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Alexia, Julia Trinity, Jordan, Makiyah, Daniel, and Drevan, along with his great granddaughter, Isla Mae. Ricky was also a devoted brother to Robert (Theresa) Martinez, Antonio (Eileen) Martinez, and Leroy (Antoinette) Martinez. His sisters, Darlene Archunde and Orrie Gonzales, alongside numerous nieces and nephews, cherished their Uncle Ricky dearly.

Ricky was preceded in death by his mother, Isabel Martinez, and his siblings: sister Molly Apodaca and brothers Michael Simms and Frankie Martinez. He was also preceded in death by his nephew Orlando Archunde and niece Roberta Kerr, along with brother-in-law Johnny Gonzales and Orlando Archunde.

The community is invited to honor Ricky's memory during a series of services scheduled for September 10, 2025, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Grants, NM. The Rosary will begin at 9:30 AM, followed by Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place at Grants Memorial Park Cemetery at 11:00 AM. A visitation with family will be held at the Knights of Columbus from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.

Ricky Martinez will be remembered for his deep love of family, his passion for the outdoors, and the joyful memories he created with those he held dear. His spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
