Graveside services for Mr. Richard Harris "Pops" McLeod, 88, of Ohatchee, will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Anniston Memorial Gardens with military honors. Ronnie Eason will officiate the service. Per the family's wishes, no public visitation will be held.
Pops died on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Floyd E. Tut Fann State Veterans Home in Huntsville.
Preceding Pops in death are his parents, Albert and Velma McLeod; his stepmother, Opal McLeod; his wife, Peggy McLeod; his daughter, Tammy McLeod; his son, Keith McLeod; two sisters, Sandra Turner and Helen Rothell; and two brothers, Robert McLeod and JW McLeod.
Those left to cherish the memory of Pops include his daughter-in-law, Pam McLeod; his grandsons, Erik McLeod (Heather) and Brandon McLeod (Candace); his great-grandchildren, Audrey McLeod, Jules McLeod, Leon McLeod, Millie McLeod, and Sellers McLeod; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pops was Baptist by faith and was an amazing man. He served his country, retiring from the US Navy as a diesel mechanic. Upon retirement he went to work for the Anniston Army Depot where he continued his work in diesel mechanics for over 20 years and then retired. Pops enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, and riding dirt roads until his health began to decline.
To know Pops was to love him. He will be greatly missed but forever remembered.
