Richard Joseph Menconi Jr., affectionately known as RJ, passed away in Canton, MA on October 3, 2023. Born in Boston, he was raised in Canton and was a lifelong resident of the town. RJ was a cherished member of his family and community, known for his thoughtful nature and kind spirit.
RJ was the beloved son of Richard J. and Maureen (Flynn) Menconi of Canton. He was a loving brother to Gina Hubbard and her husband William of Stoughton, Maria Menconi and her partner Thomas George of Quincy, and Daniella Lyons and her wife Brittany of Walpole. He was a treasured uncle to Jack Hubbard and Aria Lyons. RJ was the cherished grandson of Steven Allen of Stoughton, the late Joan Allen, Karen Flynn of Marshfield, the late Paul Flynn, and the late Joseph and Virginia Menconi. RJ is also survived by his significant other Catherine Humphrey and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss him dearly.
RJ was a proud graduate of Boston College High School. He furthered his education at Becker College in Worcester, where he continued to build lifelong friendships and expanded his knowledge and skills.
Professionally, RJ was a respected member of the Allied Security team at the Braintree Registry of Motor Vehicles. Prior to this, he worked for Allied Security at General Electric in Boston. His commitment to maintaining safety and order was appreciated by his colleagues and those he served.
In his personal life, RJ was an active member of the St. Gerard Majella Church Youth Group. In his leisure time, RJ was an avid gamer, with a particular fondness for Dungeons and Dragons. He also enjoyed playing Kendama. He attended PAX East, a convention for gamers, for many years. He became an "enforcer" at these conventions working alongside his many friends who shared his passion for this culture.
RJ will be remembered for his thoughtful and kind nature. His empathetic spirit and his unwavering kindness were gifts that he shared generously with his family, friends, and community. The loss of RJ leaves a void in the hearts of many. His memory, however, will live on through the love and kindness he shared throughout his life. He will forever be cherished by his loved ones and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
