Richard Guy Morris

Richard Guy Morris, known to those who loved him as "Ricky," passed away at his home in Little River, South Carolina, on February 2, 2025. Born on June 17, 1954, in Lake City, South Carolina, he was the beloved son of the late Guy and Grace Morris.

Ricky was a man of quiet strength, boundless wisdom, and a heart that could fill a room with warmth. A graduate of Olanta High School's Class of 1972, he went on to build a career marked by dedication and skill, working for many years at Union Camp in South Carolina. He was a licensed plumber in both South and North Carolina and ultimately retired from Philip Morris. But Ricky was far more than his work--he was a craftsman of life itself, finding joy in the simple yet profound moments that others might overlook.

He leaves behind a family who adored him: his devoted wife, Gina Zimmerman Morris of Little River, South Carolina; his daughter, Samantha Houston (Gary Houston) of Salisbury, North Carolina; his sons, Joshua Harrell (Kelley Harrell) of Knoxville, Tennessee, Lucas Harrell (Tiffany Harrell) of Charleston, South Carolina, and Jacob Harrell (Madison McCoy) of Little River, South Carolina. His sister, Elaine Winberg of Salisbury, North Carolina, also mourns his passing.

His legacy lives on in his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy: Garrett Houston and Bella Houston of Salisbury NC, Lucy Harrell, Ruby Harrell, Hank Harrell of Charleston SC, and Arthur Harrell of Knoxville TN. Along with extended family and many cherished friends, their lives have been forever enriched by knowing him. Forever he will be missed.

Ricky's passions reflected the kind of man he was--one who found beauty in the simplest of pleasures. Whether he was casting a fishing line from his boat, fixing and building things with skilled hands, tending to his garden, or standing by the grill perfecting his latest meal, he did it all with an effortless grace.
