Richard Lee Nading, Sr., 72, of Grain Valley, Missouri, died Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at Centerpoint Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born on December 3, 1952 at St. Mary's Hospital, Kansas City, Mo. to Ralph and Irma Nading.
After completing his journey through the Grain Valley School System, Richard married Ruth Ellen Farmer on May 21, 1971. This marriage resulted in two children. Richard enlisted in the Missouri National Guard on June 30, 1972 and later was called to active duty in the United States Army serving in Germany. Richard received his Honorable Discharge on September 9, 1975. Richard's love of the outdoors had a tremendous influence on his choice of careers. He was very proud to be a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers #101 in Kansas City. During his career he operated large equipment such as backhoes and track hoes. He had the opportunity to work for several of the major construction companies in the metropolitan area. His love of the outdoors also allowed him to do two of his favorite activities, hunting and fishing.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Irma; brother Bennie Nading, sister Dorothy McCreight and brother Gary Pittman.
He is survived by his two children, Angelia Hand (David) and Richard Lee Nading, Jr (Robin); sister Linda Douglas, sister Cinda Reeder (Mike); brother Ralph Nading Jr. (Bettie); Michael Nading (Debbi) and sister Jacqueline Moody (Randy). Richard was blessed with 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, May 6th at the Royer Funeral Home, 100 Royer Lane, Grain Valley, MO. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with Services at 11:00 am. Burial and Military Honors will be held following the service at Grain Valley Cemetery located at 4805 S. Seymour Rd., Grain Valley, Mo. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Grain Valley Cemetery Association.
