In the heart of Salem, on August 13, 1967, a son was born to bring laughter and camaraderie to the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. Richard Steven Pasko Jr., affectionately known as Steve, wove an indelible tapestry of joy and resilience that enriched the hearts of his friends and family until his passing on March 9, 2025, after a courageous two-year battle with colon cancer.

A proud soldier, Steve served in the Army for seven years, both on active duty and in the reserves, where he displayed unwavering dedication as a food service specialist and participated in Operation Desert Storm. His commitment to service earned him not only the Army Service Ribbon but also the National Defense Service Medal, Marksmanship Badge (M16), Expert Badge (Hand Grenade), and Army Achievement Medal, each medal a testament to his valor and determination.

Education was a cornerstone of Steve’s formative years; he graduated from Salem High School in 1985, later honing his culinary skills at the prestigious Culinary School of Washington DC in 1988. Over the years, he embraced a passionate career as a sous chef at various restaurants, delighting countless patrons with his culinary creations. His artistic flair in the kitchen was matched only by his time as a beloved radio DJ at KILO 94.3 in Colorado Springs, where he captivated listeners with stories and music that reflected his vibrant personality. Most recently, he served as a truck driver for Anderson DuBose Company in Lordstown, yet never relinquished his love for cooking, which he generously shared with family and friends.

Steve's spirit was as infectious as his laughter. With a great sense of humor and an irrepressible honesty, he was a beacon of light in every gathering, always ready to ensure that everyone had a good time. He found solace on the golf course, bombarded his playlists with heavy metal and hard rock, particularly the captivating melodies of his favorite band, Queensrÿche, and cheered fervently for the Cleveland Indians and Browns, embodying the soul of a devoted sports fan.

As a family man, Steve cherished the moments spent with those he loved most. He is survived by his devoted mother, Claudia Cullin; his daughter, Kayla (Jason Dennis) Pasko; his sister, Julia (Ted) Schuster; and his brother, Andrew (Kimberly) Pasko, alongside his precious grandchildren, Michael Lee and Conner. He was also a loving uncle to his nephews, Gustav Schuster and Zachary Pasko. Though he mourned the loss of his father, Richard S. Pasko, and his brother John Pasko, the legacy of love and joy he created inhabits the hearts of many.

Steve took immense pride in his role within the Independent Hose Company, currently serving as a trustee. His contributions to the community underscored his unwavering commitment to those around him.

The family requests that all of his friends and family are invited to celebrate his remarkable life on May 3, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at BoneShakers in Salem, Ohio and all have a drink on him. Let us remember Steve for the laughter he shared, the meals that brought us together, and the memories that will forever shine in our hearts, reminding us of the vibrant soul who rocked through life with unyielding spirit.
