Richard Patton Obituary

Published by John F. Givnish Funeral Home - Buckingham on Nov. 5, 2020.
Richard Edmund Patton passed away peacefully on November 5th, 2020, at the age of 65. Rick was born on August 19th, 1955 in Philadelphia, PA to Joseph "Pete" and Kathryn Patton. Rick was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, beginning his military service in 1972 and serving in the Vietnam War. After the war ended, he transferred to Quantico where he served as a bodyguard for the Lieutenant General. He ended his military career as a Sergeant and was discharged honorably in 1976. After his service, Rick began his academic career at Bucks County Community College, eventually transferring to Temple University where he received his law degree in 1984. Rick kicked off his law career working for the District Attorney offices in both the Philadelphia and the Bucks County areas. He then landed in the PA Attorney General's office, where he spent almost 8 years focusing on joint state/federal illegal narcotic and conspiracy cases. Throughout his career, Rick worked prosecution on assigned cases such as criminal conspiracy, organized crime, and serious felony investigations with the FBI, DEA, and ATF. In 1998, he broke from PA's Office of the Attorney General and spent the remainder of his 34-year law career as a Litigation Specialist in Philadelphia, New York City, and the surrounding tristate area. Rick loved playing with his dogs, obscure movie trivia, and building construction. He is survived by his two children, Alicia and Ean, along with his brother Boyce Kemper and sister Helen Conti. In lieu of funeral services and in honor of Rick's military service, we ask that all who wish to participate make a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project, which provides resources to wounded veterans. Private services will be at the convenience of the family under the direction of the Leaver Cable Life Celebration Home, Buckingham, PA

I worked with Rick when he was an assistant district attorney in Bucks County doing drug cases and again when he was working at the PA Attorney General's Office. He was always a great prosecutor to work with and a good friend to hang out with during those times. RIP Rick.
