Richard L. Peavey Jr. ("Slugger")

August 6, 1975 – August 22, 2025

Richard L. Peavey Jr., known to all as Slugger, left this world at the age of 50 doing what he loved most-riding his Harley.

Born on August 6, 1975, in Camden, Maine, Slugger was the beloved son of Richard L. Peavey Sr. and Annette S. Ames. He grew up in Montville and attended Walker Elementary School and Mt. View Junior High and High School. From a young age, Slugger was dedicated to his community, serving alongside his father on the Montville Fire Department for several years.

Slugger spent his early years working in the woods with his father. He was a very talented welder and worked at Fisher Snow Plow before later transitioning into a career in trucking. No matter where life took him, his passion for Harley-Davidsons remained constant. He lived for the open road.

Beyond his love of riding, Slugger was an incredibly gifted artist-his creativity came to life through intricate drawings, carvings, and many other beautiful works that are now cherished memories. He had a quick wit, a contagious laugh, and a deep love for those close to him. He was a fierce protector, a proud father, and a man who truly lived life his way.

He leaves behind his three amazing children: Makayla Peavey, Ryan Peavey, and Justice Peavey; and two grandsons he adored with all his heart, Tucker Peavey and Waylen Ellis. He is also survived by his parents; his Grandmother, Geneva Peavey and his sisters, Janet Moore (BJ Moore) and Chayann Colby (Judson Colby), though not by blood, brothers and life long best friends Danny Fuller and Jim Butler; nieces Chelsea (Chiaramonte) Lizotte, Kaelyn Colby, Madison Chiaramonte, and Gracie Moore; and nephew Juddy Colby. He is also deeply missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and one especially close cousin and friend, Joe Harriman and his special love Scarlet Ramsdell. He will also be fondly remembered and missed by his father's life partner, Sharon Johnson.

Slugger was predeceased by his grandparents, the man he admired most-Henry Peavey, George Curtis, and Delphine Curtis, as well as his first true love, Syria Martin.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
