With heavy hearts, we share the sudden passing of Richard "Dick" Laurence Pedrick, Jr., on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at the age of 72. Born in Beverly, Massachusetts, Dick lived a life defined by love, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.
Dick was a man of quiet strength and steadfast integrity. His career was not just a job-it was an extension of his deep desire to serve. As the Materials Manager for Portsmouth Regional Hospital and later a Regional Director for DaVita's kidney dialysis clinics in Kansas City, he worked tirelessly to ensure that patients were able to receive the care they needed.
His compassion reached far beyond his professional life through his involvement with the International Medical Equipment Collaborative (IMEC), Project Perfect World, Damien House, and, in his final years, the Global Smile Foundation. Through these efforts, he played a vital role in bringing life-changing medical equipment and aid to people in need, making the world a better place in ways both seen and unseen.
But above all else, Dick's greatest joy was his family. He and his wife, Sharon, built a life together filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support. As a father and grandfather, he was ever-present-whether cheering from the sidelines, applauding at a musical, or simply offering his quiet wisdom in a way that made you feel like everything would be okay. He never missed a moment to support his children and grandchildren, always their biggest fan, always their rock. His passion for music led him to serve as president of the Spaulding High School Music Boosters, where he worked to create opportunities for young musicians. A lifelong Boston Red Sox fan, he found joy in the simple pleasure of watching a game, especially when surrounded by the people he loved.
Dick had a remarkable ability to bring warmth and humor into any situation. His wit was sharp, his kindness was boundless, and his mind endlessly curious. Numbers came effortlessly to him-he could calculate mentally with astonishing ease, whether navigating hospital inventories, helping with homework, or figuring out the perfect tip without a second thought. But beyond his intelligence, it was his heart that truly defined him. He was the kind of person you could always count on-the one who showed up, the one who listened, the one who quietly made everything better just by being there.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard Pedrick, Sr., and Louise Pedrick. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Sharon; his daughter Jennifer and her husband, Jason, with their daughter, Emily; his son Richard III and his wife, Pamela, with their children, Madison and Benjamin; and his son Thomas and his wife, Sherrilynn, with their children, Lincoln, Harrison, and Quincy. He is also survived by his sister, Heather Baldwin, and her husband, Gunnar, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
Per Dick's wishes, no formal services will be held. In honor of his lifelong commitment to helping others, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to Global Smile Foundation.
Dick's life was one of quiet heroism-a life devoted to lifting others up, loving his family with his whole heart, and leaving the world a little better than he found it. Though he is no longer with us, his love, his wisdom, and his kindness will live on in all who were lucky enough to know him.
