Richard "Rick" Persechini died at his home Tuesday November 4th, leaving behind a life marked by respect for tradition and a strong sense of heritage. He took great pride in his Lebanese and Italian roots and carried those influences throughout his life.
He loved to feed people, whether by helping prepare a family meal or simply ensuring that good food was always within reach. Sharing food was one of the truest ways he knew how to express love.
Rick was most at home when he was away from the busyness of city life. He found joy in caring for the animals that lived in the woods surrounding his house and spent many hours on the water fishing — his favorite pastime. He was a longtime member of Trout Unlimited, and appreciated the patience and stillness the sport demanded.
He was also a proud member of Union Local 6, where he built a long, admirable career and formed friendships that lasted decades. His curiosity about history and politics stayed with him throughout his life, always eager to understand the forces that shaped the world around him.
His deep sense of responsibility and loyalty was perhaps most clearly shown through the care he provided to his sister, Paula, in recent years.
Rick was fiercely independent until the very end and lived quietly, but his absence is anything but. He is missed and survived by his sister Paula and his daughters Lydia and René.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hour at Our Lady of the Annunciation Melkite Catholic Cathedral 7 VFW Parkway West Roxbury Saturday November 8 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m. Rick will be laid to rest with his parents at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Roxbury.
