Richard Wayne Piotrowski, Comer Georgia, passed away on May 24, 2025, surrounded by his family and friends. Richard was born April 26, 1956, in Long Beach, California, son of the late Joseph Piotrowski and Bernadine Sczcech Piotrowski. He was an honest, loving, caring man, with great integrity and an outstanding work ethic. Richard’s world was his son, Joe. Richard attended to Joe's needs as his first priority in life. Richard loved photography and the outdoors, and spent many summer days with Joe, boating on Lake Hartwell.
Richard graduated from Cedar Shoals High School and began a career as a master printer at Southeastern Color Lithograph, Athens, Georgia. He then worked for Colonial Press, Leonard’s Losers, and later partnered with Sid Shropshire to start Oconee Printing, Inc, Athens, Georgia, where he worked for many years. In 2013, Richard began working for Bulldog Print at the University of Georgia. He quickly became manager, where he worked until January 2025.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph V. Piotrowski. Survivors include Joseph Edward Piotrowski (son), Mary Harvel (stepdaughter), Patricia Piotrowski Herring (sister) of Grand Prairie Texas, Albert Piotrowski (brother) of Morro Bay, California, along with many other cousins, family members and friends. The family would like to thank Sid and Genese Shropshire for their time, love, and endless and compassionate care for Richard, as well as extend their appreciation to Sam Stone and Sid Langston for the many days they spent supporting Richard. Special thanks to Athens Piedmont and St. Mary’s hospitals for their care and support.
