Richard Allen Powers

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Allen Powers, a beloved father, grandfather, husband, and brother. Richard passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026, in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 82.

Richard was born in Marshfield, Wisconsin, and raised on a family farm in Kasson, Minnesota, where he learned the value of hard work and resourcefulness-principles that guided him throughout his life. After graduating from high school, he went on to attend Mankato State College, earning his bachelor's degree in accounting. Richard's career as an accountant opened the door to a life of travel and exploration, taking him to places across the globe.

Outside of his professional life, Richard found joy in the simple, hands-on pleasures that reminded him of his roots. He loved working on cars, tackling home improvement projects, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his sons, Jon Powers (and his wife Diane Powers) and Brian Powers; grandchildren, Joseph Powers and Ann Powers; and siblings, Carol Mundy and Dennis Powers. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Dorothy Powers, and wife, Rita Powers.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11 AM, Friday, March 27, 2026 at the Washburn-Mcreavy Edina Chapel. Visitation at 10 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
