Steve Monroe Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapels - Edina on Mar. 4, 2026.
February 8, 1960 - February 23rd, 2026

St. Louis Park, Minnesota

Petty Offi cer Steve Monroe has taken his fi nal voyage. Born February 8, 1960, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Steve lived the way he served steady, loyal, and unwilling to back down. The Navy helped shape the discipline in him, but the heart behind it was always his own.

He served not only as a Petty Offi cer in the United States Navy, but as a Scout leader In Troop 299, guiding young men with patience, humor, and quiet strength. He understood that leadership wasn't about control, it was about example.

He was stubborn, proudly-so and once he planted his feet, you weren't moving him. But that same stubbornness made him dependable. He stood his ground for the people he loved.

Most in the truck shop knew him as "Bondo." If something was broken, he could fi x it. If something was tense, he could lighten it. If life got too serious, he was the one stirring the pot just enough to make you laugh.

Steve was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a brother, and a friend. Most of all he was a prankster. A teaser. A professional button-pusher. If you were in his circle, you were fair game. And if he teased you, it meant you were loved. He believed life was meant to be laughed at, not endured. He found joy in the everyday. He would stir things up just to see who would bite. And he did it all with that unmistakable grin. Grounded in his Episcopal faith, he carried himself with a steady belief and a quiet confi dence in something greater than himself.

Now, Petty Offi cer Monroe sets sail on calmer waters. His watch here is complete. He leaves behind his wife Colleen Monroe, his son Mark Monroe, his daughter Melissa Monroe, his grandchildren Gage, Owen, Jade, Arianna & Wyatt , his siblings Iris (Bruce) Alexander, Gloria (Terry) Johnson, Marge Noel and countless friends who will forever hear his laughter in the background of their memories.

Fair winds and following seas, Bondo. Your voyage continues.
