Richard "Rich" Thomas Probert, Jr., 59, formally of Mashpee, Falmouth, Wareham, and Taunton, passed away unexpectedly at Falmouth Hospital on September 14, 2025. He was the beloved son of Linda McGonagle and his late father, Richard Probert, Sr. He was raised by his father and stepmother, Patricia Probert of West Wareham.
Rich is survived by his two children, Dillon Probert, of
Mashpee, MA, and Gabrielle Probert, of
Mashpee, MA; his siblings, Philip Wright, and his wife, Irene, of Tarpon Springs, FL, Eric Probert, of Kingston, MA, Stephanie Barkas, of East Wareham, MA; his step-sister, Denise Ryder, and her husband, Morrie, of Marstons Mills, MA. In addition, Rich is survived by his nieces and nephews, Michael Wright, Gabriel Wright, Matthew Probert, Corrine Barkas, Katherine Barkas, AJ Barkas, Damien Barkas, Jason Ryder, Jeffery Ryder, Moe Ryder, and Kayla (Ryder) Loyloa, as well as many great nieces and nephews.
Rich was preceded in death by his Brother-In-Law, Alan Barkas.
He was a proud graduate of Falmouth High School, class of 1984, where he excelled on the varsity football team and in his academic pursuits. In his early years, he showcased his creativity and craftsmanship, cultivating a talent for jewelry making and wood fabrication. He always embraced freedom and adventure, finding joy in riding his motorcycle, often attending Bike Week gatherings in Daytona, FL and Laconia, NH.
He worked in various trades, including heavy machinery operation and tractor-trailer truck driving. He was most proud of his career with Reworld, working at the Southeastern Massachusetts Resource Recovery Facility as a safety operator and heavy equipment operator. True to his generous spirit and strong work ethic, he gave his time to Patriots Helping Vets, advocating for veterans' rights to heal through horticultural therapy and lobbying for full access to alternative medicinal therapies.
Rich cherished life's simple pleasures: the pursuit of knowledge, the beauty of nature, the rhythm of music, the thrill of motorsports and his treasured collection of hats. Above all, he valued time spent with friends and family and found immense joy in fatherhood, imparting his priceless wisdom to his children. He lived a full and meaningful life, his days enriched with laughter, happiness and love. His presence will be profoundly missed. May his soul be embraced by eternal peace and serenity.
