Richard Eugene Probst, 89, of Graham passed away at his home on Thursday, November 27, 2025 surrounded by his family following several years of declining health.

A native of New York City, NY, he was the loving husband of Faye Probst, who survives and the son of John Jacob Probst and Katherine Eugenia Schmidt Probst, both deceased.

Richard was a proud veteran of the United States Army. After his time in the service, he became employed by Computer Sciences Corporation and worked as a government contractor for many years. He and Faye faithfully attended Bellemont Methodist Church and loved their church dearly. He also enjoyed time with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife of their home, he is survived by two daughters, Susan Elizabeth Probst, of the home and Kimberly Dawn Akers and her husband Danny of Boiling Springs Lake; three grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, Brittani; and two great grandchildren, Ashley and Luna.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Richard Shirley; six sisters and two brothers.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home in Graham from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 pm in the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at AuthoraCare Hospice for their tender loving touch given to Richard. Also to their family and friends for all the love, prayers and encouragement given to them.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bellemont Methodist Church, 4039 Markwood Rd. Burlington, NC 27215 or to AuthoraCare Hospice, 914 Chapel Hill Rd. Burlington, NC 27215.
