Richard Reith

Richard "Dick" Reith, age 86, of Huntington, IN, passed away at 7:23 pm on Friday February 3, 2023, at Dupont Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born on June 28, 1936 in Kokomo, IN, he was the son of William and Mary (Day) Reith.
Dick attended Walnut Grove High School and graduated with the Class of 1954. He then proudly served his country in the United States Navy before moving to Whitley County. On December 31, 1982, he married Phyllis Eckert in Columbia City. He worked at various factories for 40 years, then at CBT, Milford for 15 years until his retirement in 1999.
Dick was a member and lector at St Catherine's Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, yardwork, and woodworking in his free time.
Survivors include his children, Teresa Reith, Richard Reith Jr., Katherine (Steven) LaDew, Cheryl Reith and Judith Reith, Ronald Swain; Donald (Donna) Swain, H. Douglas Swain, son-in-law Robert Bacewic; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Phyllis Reith, daughters, Sonia Azhar, Ruby "Jane" Bacewic, and Jean Ayyoub, grandchildren, Dustin Reith and Lacie Millard.
Friends may call from 3:30 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City with a reciting of the Rosary at 3:00 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 am on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, 9989 South State Road 9, Columbia City, with calling one-hour prior.
Burial will follow in St Catherine's Catholic Cemetery, with military honors rendered by Whitley County Korean War Veterans.
Memorial donations may be given in memory to Masses, the Preservation Fund of St. Catherine's Catholic Church or the American Cancer Fund.
