Richard R. Rheinschmidt, 92, of Loves Park, IL, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 6, 2024. Richard was born on December 15, 1931 in Mosinee, WI to Louis and Bessie (Williams) Rheinschmidt. He later moved with his family to Beloit, WI. On February 24, 1955, Richard married the love of his life, Elaine Jorgensen. Richard and Elaine went on to have five children, Lydia, David, Karen, Kristin and Edith.
Richard worked for several trucking companies and made many life-long friends. He retired from Yellow Freight in Rockford, IL on May 31, 1991, and spent his time fishing, reading, gardening, casino-ing, and enjoying time with his family. After he retired, Richard always said that he thought of every day as a bonus day, and he treated every day as a gift. He was a positive and loving person, always fast with a smile and a kind word. Richard was hard-working, generous, loving and wise, and will be greatly missed by many.
He is survived by his children, Lydia Enmark, David (Val) Rheinschmidt, Karen (Mark) Brown, Kristin (Greg Gould) Brannon and Edith (Daniel) Vogel; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Richard was predeceased by his wife, Elaine Jorgensen Rheinschmidt; parents; brothers, Norman, Edward, Louis and Leslie; sisters, Eva Kriel, Dorothy Warren, Mildred Wilson, Viola Hamilton, Bessie Gregory, Bernice Stewman and Hazel Aude; and grandchildren, Kasy Brown and Carrie Brannon.
Visitation will be from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Saturday, October 12, 2024 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory-Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road, Loves Park, IL 61111.
