Richard “Ritchie” Calvin Burgess, age 34, of Shelby, passed away Friday, January 24, 2025 at his home.
Richard was born in Cleveland County on Wednesday, June 6, 1990. He was a graduate of Chase High School, class of 2008. Richard enjoyed his job as the manager of NAPA Auto Parts in Lawndale and worked in auto parts retail most of his life. He was known as a sweet spirited, loving and caring person with a willingness to help others. Richard was very passionate about his dogs and cars.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Conellia Humphries, John Phillips and Gene Roper and a stepsister, Stevey Randolph.
Those left to cherish his memory is his special partner, Amanda Sims and his “adopted” children, Josh, Hannah and Hollie; parents, Brian Burgess (Crystal) of Union Mills and Elizabeth Randolph (Larry) of Shelby; siblings, Brandon Hawkins (Anna) of Forest City, Morgan Henson (Adam) of Forest City, Candie Randolph of Shelby, Adam Randolph (Malory) of Lawndale, Jessica Randolph of Shelby; grandparents, Eddie and Connie Burgess of Mooresboro, Myrldean Roper of Lattimore and Lana Hoppes of Bostic.
The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 pm on Thursday, January 30th at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bruce Duncan officiating. Burial will be private for the family. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time at the funeral home.
Memorial donations are requested to the Community Pet Center, 861 Piney Ridge Road, Forest City, NC 28043.
