Richard E. Rivera, age 96, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026. He was born on October 18, 1929, in Romeo, Colorado, to Jose Ruben Rivera and Pasqualita Santisteven.

On May 20, 1951, Richard married the love of his life, Lillian Lopez, and for nearly 75 wonderful years, they built a loving, faith-filled life together and raised seven children.

Richard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, and he deeply loved his country. Following his military service, he worked diligently for more than 30 years at Tooele Army Depot, from which he retired with honor.

A man of deep faith, integrity, and gentle spirit, Richard was known for his tender heart and his desire to serve others. He was active in his church, faithfully serving in many roles over the years, including teaching Sunday School and leading Royal Rangers.

Throughout his life, Richard enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, camping, and coaching Little League baseball. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family and creating memories that will be cherished for generations.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Lillian Rivera; children, Karen Werner, Richard M. Rivera (Diana), Dennis Rivera (Naomi), Robert Rivera (Debra), Jimmy Rivera (Linda), Deborah Aguayo (Felix), and Anna Murillo (Alfred). He was a proud grandfather of 21 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him great joy.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Ruben Rivera and Pasqualita Santisteven; brothers, Floyd Rivera and Fernando Rivera; sisters, Frances Maez and Laura Lobato; and daughter-in-law, Loretta Rivera.

Viewing will be held at Mt. Calvary Family Worship Center, 3050 South 3200 West, West Valley City, Utah 84119, on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.

Funeral service will be held at Mt. Calvary Family Worship Center on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Memorial Redwood Mortuary & Cemetery, 6500 S Redwood Rd, West Jordan, UT 84084.
