Richard Rubendall Obituary
July 14, 1944 - March 12, 2025
Richard "Rudy" Rubendall, 80, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, March 12, 2025, in Arizona. He was born July 14, 1944, in Waterloo, son of Gordon and Eloise (Wiseman) Rubendall. After graduating high school, Rudy served in the US Army.
He married Teresa "Tere" Spence on September 15, 1973, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Porte City. She preceded him in death November 23, 2022.
Rudy worked as a supervisor for John Deere. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Waterloo, and the Moose Lodge in Washburn. He liked watching college and pro football, especially the Cowboys, and cooking. Rudy loved to play cards and enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas and Hawaii with Tere. They lived on Sans Souci Island for 25 years and later had a house on Lake Delhi; they loved being on the water. Rudy had been the President of the Waterhawks ski team.
Survived by his sons, Spence (Meggan) Rubendall of Cedar Rapids, and Jeff (Jessica) Rubendall of San Tan Valley, AZ; five grandchildren: Charlotte, McKenzie, Tyler, Dylan, and Dawsyn Rubendall; his brother, Dan (Diane) Rubendall; and sisters, Jeanne (Roger) Catlin, and Melanie Rubendall. He was preceded by his parents; his wife, Tere; son, Richard Jordan Rubendall, in infancy; and brother, Bob Rubendall.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 650 Stephan Ave, Waterloo, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
