Richard Lee "Dick" Scarbrough, 93, of Farragut, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home on November 17, 2025. Born on February 29, 1932, in Ecorse, Michigan, Dick lived a full and meaningful life marked by service, leadership, and deep devotion to his family and community.
Dick graduated from Harriman High School and attended Florida State College in Jacksonville. A true pioneer in Tennessee real estate, he founded the first Century 21 franchise in the state and later retired as the owner of Century 21 AAIM Real Estate. His work helped shape the profession across East Tennessee and left a lasting mark on countless agents and clients.
He was active in several local organizations, including the East Tennessee Association of Realtors, Farragut Chamber of Commerce, and the CBFO Optimist Club. Throughout his life, Dick received numerous professional honors, served as President of the East Tennessee Association of Realtors, President of the CBFO Optimist Club, earned lifetime membership in the Farragut Chamber of Commerce, and served his town as both alderman and Vice Mayor of Farragut. Beyond his public roles, Dick cherished life's simple joys. He loved camping, walking his dog Bella, tending to his farm, caring for animals, and spending time with his family. His warm presence, steady guidance, and genuine kindness will be missed by all who knew him.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents: Harold Scarbrough and Gwendolyn Myrtle Wick-Scarbrough; brother Tom Scarbrough; aunt Esther Gray; and grandson Erick Beach.
He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Helen Scarbrough; children Rick Scarbrough (Linda), Jennifer Scarbrough-Threlkeld (Bill), David Scarbrough (Anita), and Jeff Scarbrough (Michelle). He leaves behind grandchildren Kohl Threlkeld, Jason Scarbrough, McKenzie Threlkeld, Rich Scarbrough, Sacha Beach, Ryan Hoy, Caitlen Ambrose and Cooper Scarbrough.
The family offers special thanks to his caregivers-Ashley Bridges, Demarcus "Mookie" Dixon, Joy Sundahi, and Maria Ferreira-for their compassion and care.
The family will be celebrating his life in private, and we greatly appreciate your love and support.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Young-Williams Animal Center 3201 Division St. Knoxville, TN 37919
