Richard Schaefer Obituary
Richard Dean Schaefer, 75, of Columbia City, Ind., passed away Saturday, February 10, 2024. Born February 3, 1949, in Fort Wayne, he was a son of the late Earl and Ellen (Knight) Schaefer.
Growing up in Whitley County, he attended Columbia City Joint High School. Dick had worked for Seyferts Potato Chips and C&R Plating. He had attended Blue River Church with his family and in recent years enjoyed going to The Woodlands Senior Activity Center. Dick enjoyed weightlifting and all animals. Dick will always be remembered as a person you could go to for help. He was always willing to lend a hand to family and friends.
Dick is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Jodi Schaefer; brother-in-law, Jerry Hoag; close family member, Judy Durnell; and numerous nieces, nephews and other close family members. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Penny Hoag; and two brothers, Gary Schaefer and Russell Schaefer.
Visitation will be 1:00 - 3:00 pm, Saturday, February 24, 2024, with a funeral service at 3:00 pm, at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, Ind. Burial will take place at Nolt Cemetery following the service.
Memorial donations may be given in memory of Dick to The Woodlands Senior Activity Center or Humane Society of Whitley County.
