Richard D. Schofield, 62, resident of Milford, NH, died on May 20, 2024, at the Mass General Hospital, Boston, surrounded by his loving family after a long illness.
He was born on October 26, 1961, in Nashua, NH, a son of Dale R. Schofield of Florida and the late Eleanor (Shapland) Lemery.
Richard had a strong and kind spirit that led him to always want to be available to help those he loved, and sometimes, just someone in need.
His family was always the center of his universe. Since he was a young man, he did not hesitate to drop everything to provide and care for his loved ones. This including caring for his mother for many years, where by a true act of fate, he met Diana who would become his devoted wife of 39 years. He and Diana were best friends and worked together to create the best life they could for the stars of their world, Margaret and Emily. Rich loved all three of his girls with his whole heart and soul and would have done anything in his power to make sure they were safe, secure, and happy.
Rich was the golden standard of what it means to be a wonderful son (and bonus son to Diana's parents), husband, father, brother, and friend. He also took pride in his titles as family MVP, chef, mechanic, and musician. Rich had a never ending sense of wonder about the world, and a natural gift to tinker. He is fondly remembered as the man who knew just enough about everything, and could guide you in the right direction- no matter what the problem was.
Rich was a self-taught musician with a natural gift. He was a jack of all trades, with a head-turning voice that radiated warmth and strength, and usually accompanying himself on one of the many instruments he played including piano, guitar, and bass. Over the years, he performed with The Nashua Symphony, The Rodeo Clowns, The Brickyard Blues, and Fossil Fuel. Though sometimes he had to be pushed to take his spotlight, there was nothing that brought Rich more fulfillment than sharing his musical talents with the world.
Survivors include his loving wife, Diana Schofield of Milford, NH, his two daughters, Margaret Schofield of Milford and Emily Schofield of Dover, NH, his siblings, Tom Schofield of Alabama, Mary Ellen Dubeau of Milford, NH and stepbrother, Jeffrey Saren of MA.
SERVICES: Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. Burial will be private for the family.
