Richard Edward Seghers

Richard Edward Seghers, 90 of Kenner passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026, at home in Kenner. He was with family and passed peacefully.

Richard was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Charles Ernest and Annie B. Seghers on May 17, 1935. He attended school in Pelham, New York where he played football at Pelham High School. After graduation from Virginia Tech, he married Alceda Marie Vort on December 20, 1958, and served in the Army for four years. He worked as an insurance underwriter for the marine and aviation industry in Southern Louisiana for nearly 30 years until he retired at 55 years old. He and Alceda enjoyed travelling, square dancing and playing games with friends. He was a proud Eagle Scout and remained an active alumni and fan of Virginia Tech, go Hokies! He was also quite a harmonica player.

He is preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Ann (McGunagle), Charles E. Seghers, Jr., and Roberta (Lanza)

Richard is survived by his wife, Alceda, his son Richard, his spouse, Bill, son Bob, son Michael, his wife Cheri, son Stephen, his wife Natalie; Grandchildren Sean, Josh, Christina, Nick, Paul, Alison, Bobby Ray; Greatgrandchildren, Amelia, Vivian, Ezra, Beverly and many extended family members.

There will be a celebration of life and Catholic mass on Thursday, March 5 at Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home; 3827 Canal Street in New Orleans. Visitation from 10am to Noon, followed by a funeral mass and refreshments.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make donations to the Alzheimer's Association in Richard's name.
