Richard Sexton Obituary Richard Sexton, age 79, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2025, at the Ohio Health Doctors Hospital in Columbus.
Born October 25, 1945 to Allen Ebert and Stella Louis (Prater) Sexton, he was a Shelby resident the majority of his life, moving to Columbus in recent years. Richard was a veteran of the Air Force and also attended college before becoming a pipe fitter at the Ohio Steel Tube.
Richard enjoyed writing and reading poetry, fishing, traveling, and he loved to help people.
He is survived by his children Roy (Mary Cox) Sexton of Mansfield, Ohio, Montei (Cindy Bui ) Sexton of Columbus, Ohio, and Alvin (Julie George) Sexton of Clarkson, Michigan; five grandchildren, Lisa (Sexton) Parker James of Michigan, Austin Courtney (Posey) of Batavia, Tyler Cheyenne (Tudor) of Mansfield, Cooper Sexton of Clarkston Michigan, Tony Bui of Columbus; eight great grandchildren, Aden, Everlynn, Allen, AJ, Grant, Preston, Jordan and Mallory; one sister Janet Neptune of Illinois; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends who will miss him deeply.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Tamako Sexton in 2022; brother Stephen Sexton, two sisters, Mary Sallier-Thibabaux, and Leslie Dawn Johnson.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 4:00 to 5:00 PM at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby. Military Honors will be preformed at 5:00 PM. A Funeral service will then immediately follow with Pastor James Robinson officiating. Richard and his loving wife Tamako, will be laid to rest at Mt. Fuji in Japan.
In place of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the OhioHealth Foundation 3430 OhioHealth Parkway, Fl. 3 Columbus, OH 43202.
