Richard A. Shell, 64, passed away on June 18, 2025, with his son by his side, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. He was born on July 10, 1960, in Fond du Lac. Rick graduated from Oakfield High School, class of 1978.
Rick surrounded himself with sports, early in his career he was a golf superintendent in the early 1980s. He joined Brunswick as a network engineer, and he retired from there in 2024. Outside of work, Rick spent many hours and years supporting Blue Line Hockey and the Fond du Lac Bears. His love for hockey also expanded to a deep admiration for outdoor sports including hunting and fishing. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed, "Breakfast with the Boys" which included some of his closest friends at several local establishments. To know Rick was an honor, his continued love for those that were part of his life was unmatched. He was selfness, kind, caring and always willing to give more than to take.
Rick is survived by his parents, Judy and Jerry Krueger; significant other, Mary Froehlich; children, Jessica (Chad) Ervin and Josh (Maggie) Shell; bonus children, Becki (Phil) Smith and Jenni (John) Hauschild; grandchildren, Madison and Morgan Ervin, Jonathon Hauschild (Paige), Josie Hauschild (Autumn), Wyatt, Cora, and Frances Shell, Courtney Froehlich (Isaac), Mitchell Smith (Jen), and Madison (Jordan) Simonson.
He is further survived by siblings, Amy (Dan) Schwefel, Jenny Humleker, and Ellen Bauer; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He is also survived by his great grandchildren whom he adored deeply: Carter, Addie, Jackson, Maisyn and Meadow.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dick Shell; granddaughter, Hailie Smith; aunts, uncles, and other relatives.
Visitation will be on Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:45 AM at Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E Division St, in Fond du Lac. A funeral service will follow visitation at 12:00 PM at Zacherl Funeral Home.
To honor Rick's love of the Brewers, please wear your Brewer attire.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Rick's name may be offered to Blue Line Family Ice Center of Fond du Lac.
