Richard A. Sica, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on June 26, 1932, in Brooklyn, New York, Richard was the youngest and last surviving of nine siblings born to Domenico Sica of Gaiano, Italy, and Anna Santaniello of Porto City, Naples, Italy.
Richard was a devoted husband to Patricia, with whom he shared 62 years of love and companionship. Together, they raised a beautiful family, which includes their four children: Rick (Denise) Sica, Sica "Michelle" Jefferson, Kerrie (John) Leigh, and Marc (Amber) Sica. He was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren: Austin, Sierra, Caleb, Payton, Naomi, Eliya, Gianna, Isabella, Lydia, and Alessandra. In March 2024, he was blessed to welcome his first great-grandchild, James Wyatt Millar.
A man of many talents, Richard was an accomplished singer and entertainer. He sang in his church choir from the age of seven and, later in life, performed under the names Rick Richards and Dick DeSica. While attending Seton Hall University, he joined the ROTC and, after graduating in 1954, enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves. After eight years of dedicated service, he was honorably discharged in 1965, having achieved the rank of First Lieutenant.
Richard had a successful 36-year career as a Collection Chief Field Branch with the IRS, retiring in 1999. Outside of work, he was an avid reader with a deep love for literature and amassed an extensive personal library. His passions extended to his faith, family, art, and fishing. Richard was also known for his lifelong love of animals, particularly his loyal golden retrievers-Capo, Misty, Beau, Amber, Nugget-and his Dalmatian, Daisy.
A funeral mass will be held in his honor on May 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Maria Goretti Church, 17102 Spring Mill Road, Westfield, Indiana 46074. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the ASPCA in Richard's memory, reflecting his lifelong love for animals.
Richard's legacy of love, faith, and devotion to his family will live on in the hearts of those he touched, and for his family and friends, if you listen now, you can hear him singing to us from heaven this Frank Sinatra song, "Softly as I Leave You". May he rest in peace.

Worked with Dick when he was working as a branch chief in the Detroit IRS office. He was very down to Earth, no nonsense type of guy that I observed in action, and appreciated his approach! RIP Dick...
