Richard "Rich" Silva, 59, of Woodbridge, Virginia, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025.
Born on July 16, 1965, Rich lived a life marked by dedication, service, and passion. A proud veteran of the United States Army and a steadfast employee of the Fairfax County Police Department, he was deeply committed to the values of duty and integrity. Rich also served his community through his involvement with the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and as a Freemason, reflecting his lifelong commitment to brotherhood, service, and honor.
Outside of his professional and civic roles, Rich was a man of many talents and passions. A skilled marksman and proud gun enthusiast, he had a deep love for history and attended many Military expos, sharing his knowledge and reverence for the past. He was also a great chef and true culinary aficionado - happiest when cooking for his family and friends, experimenting with recipes, and turning meals into lasting memories.
Rich was a gifted oil painter and a versatile artist whose creativity knew no bounds. He was especially known for creating striking and imaginative pieces using recycled metals sourced from the local Fairfax County recycling center. His work reflected both his appreciation for craftsmanship and his ability to see beauty and potential where others might not. His art lives on through custom metal pieces he created for his wife and his twin boys.
He also combined his love of craftsmanship and Freemasonry through a small business he proudly ran, customizing pennies with the Freemason symbol. His handcrafted pieces became popular among fellow Freemason enthusiasts and collectors, a testament to his creativity and attention to detail.
Rich is survived by his beloved wife, Rose Silva, and their 12-year-old twin sons, Scott and John, who were the pride and joy of his life. He is also lovingly remembered by his cousins, Jim and John Silva, with whom he shared a lifelong bond of friendship along his "brother" John Village. He will also be missed by his wife's numerous loving family members.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 17th at 3:00 p.m. at Mount Castle Turch on Dale Blvd. in Woodbridge, Virginia. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of a life well-lived and deeply cherished.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
