On August 7, 2023, Richard Edgar Smart (65) of Deer Park, Texas joined his beloved Family members waiting in Heaven. Rick was born to Hershel Dan Smart and Geraldine Alston Smart on September 16,1957 in Houston, Texas. Rick spent his high school years at LaPorte High School. He was a welder by trade and worked in the chemical plants for many years.
Rick is survived by his mother Geraldine Smart, ex-Wife Linda Kelley Smart, their three daughters April, Tabitha, Roxanne and their spouses Tabitha Kelley, Bobby Wilson, and Ryan Adams. Along with his grandchildren Camden, Bailee, Carlie, Remington, Brantley, and Emery. He is also survived by his sisters Dana and her husband Chris Halverson and Terri and her husband Graham Moore. Along with his Nieces and nephews Amber, Carlos, Jessie, Alston, Andy, and Zach.
Rick was preceded in death by his father Hershel Dan Smart, grandparents Ima Jean and Richard Alston, and several other beloved family members.
Rick loved spending time at the family farm in Round Top, he would often visit several times a year. He could be found on the back porch having coffee in the morning and a beer in the evening. He always had a quick-witted answer or joke ready whether you wanted it or not. He loved to laugh and make other people laugh. He will truly be missed by all that knew him.
Ricks family along with Pastor Jack Faulkner and Deer Park Funeral Directors will host a funeral service on Monday August 14, 2023 at 1:00pm. The funeral service will be held at Greenvine Baptist Church in Burton, Texas. Graveside service to follow at Richters Cemetery in Round Top, Texas
