Richard N. Smith, 86 of Beverly, passed away peacefully, after a short illness on Saturday, September 20th. Born on March 26, 1939, in Gloucester, he was the son to the late Loring and Hester (Curtis) Smith.

He grew up and spent his entire life as a resident of Beverly. One of his favorite places to spend time was Lynch Park. He was the third son in a family of six children and went on to become a devoted father of his two beloved daughters and grandfather to his five incredible grandchildren. He was a founding player of the first year of the Beverly Little League in 1950 and had cherished memories playing. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Maryann (Nelson) Smith who passed in 2003, with whom he shared a love of camping and traveling with their daughters. He was co-owner of Kenrich Builders with his lifelong friend of 70 years, Kenneth Savory. An avid skier and tennis player, he enjoyed teaching his daughters and later cheering on his five grandchildren at their various sports. In his later years, he found joy in painting and treasured drawing with his grandchildren. His devoted niece, Monica, brought him joy through visits, favorite meals, and scenic drives.

Richard is survived by his daughters Alison Smith Kearney of Beverly, Kimberly Kochick and her husband, Brad Kochick, of Beverly, his grandchildren, Caroline and Grace Kearney, and Charlotte, Tyler and Michael Kochick, and his sister, Joanne Appleton of Brunswick, ME, along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is predeceased by his brothers, Alfred, Robert, Russell and Donald Smith.
