Sergeant Richard C. Snow, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, at Mountain View Hospital in Las Cruces, New Mexico, surrounded by his loved ones. He was 83 years old.
Born on December 7, 1941, Richard lived a life defined by honor, service, and deep love for his family and country. A proud United States Marine, he served as a Sergeant in the 3rd Tank Battalion of the 3rd Marine Division. After his military service, Richard continued a life of purpose and hard work at the Southwestern New Mexico Correctional Facility. Known for his strong work ethic and quiet leadership, he earned the admiration of his colleagues and community alike.
Richard was a true outdoorsman and craftsman-a man who found peace and joy in hunting, fishing, camping, and welding. A jack of all trades, there was little he couldn't build, fix, or improve. But above all, Richard's greatest joy came from spending time with his family and the people he loved most. His warm heart, steady presence, and sense of humor made him deeply loved by everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his three daughters: Connie Terrazas and her husband Eddie of Hatch, NM; Julie Hollis and her husband Stacy of
Deming, NM; and Jolynn Cordova and her husband Pete of
Deming, NM. He is also survived by his grandchildren: John Terrazas, Jeremiah Terrazas, Janessa Terrazas, Joshua Terrazas, Ashley Hollis, Kyle Hollis, Nicole Shaw and husband Josh, Kari Close and husband Brad, McKenzie Patterson and husband Francisco Luna-Evans, Challen Snow, Kelsie Snow, Patrice Parisi, Heather Parisi-Marquez and husband Beto, Cody Parisi, and his adopted grandson Levi Ruebush and wife Jodie, Justin Vogann and wife Daniela. He leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren who will carry his memory forward with love and pride.
Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Lynda Snow; his son Robert Snow; his parents; and his brothers and sister.
Sergeant Richard C. Snow's legacy will live on through the stories, laughter, and love he shared with all who were fortunate enough to know him. His strength, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his family and country will never be forgotten.
Though his time on this earth has ended, Richard's love and legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched. He taught his family the value of hard work, kindness, and standing strong no matter what life brings.
As we gather to celebrate his life, we remember not only the Marine, the outdoorsman, and the craftsman-but the loving father, grandfather, and friend whose heart was always full of love for those around him.
Rest peacefully, Sergeant Snow. Your duty is done, your legacy endures, and your memory will forever live in our hearts.
