Richard M. Steigelman, lovingly known as "Richie," 71, of Naples, FL, passed away unexpectedly on January 2, 2025. Richie was born on October 10, 1953 in Yonkers, NY. He was a proud Navy veteran who served during Vietnam, Richie lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and community spirit.
Spending most of his life Eastchester, NY, Richie relocated to Naples in April 2024 following his retirement after more than 50 years as an auto mechanic. He was a former Eastchester Fire Commissioner and an active member of the Eastchester Italian American Club. Richie's love for people and his generous nature were evident to all who knew him. He had a heart of gold and was always ready to lend a helping hand.
Richie was the founder of the 9/11 motorcycle run, a heartfelt tribute where riders traveled from the Eastchester police station to ground zero, returning to a community barbecue that fostered camaraderie and remembrance. A lifelong New York Yankees fan, Richie recently developed a passion for football, thanks to his son-in-law Saverio.
Richie is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Maria; his daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Saverio; and his cherished grandson, Vincent. He also leaves behind his brothers Edward, Tommy, and Johnny; sisters Phyllis (Larry) and Cathy; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Franco and Lisa Luciano, Frank and Rosetta Barbieri, Gregorio Barbieri, and Giuseppe and Grace Leone; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
He was predeceased by his parents William and Ollie Mae Steigelman; sisters Martha Corretti (Joe) and Betty Jean Steigelman; and his in-laws Rosario and Carolina Barbieri.
Richie's warmth, generosity, and vibrant personality will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 7, 2025 from 10:00 to 2:00 p.m. His service will be held at 2:00 p.m. with entombment to follow at Palm Royale Funeral Home and Cemetery, 6790 Vanderbilt Beach Rd. Naples, FL 34119.

Richie was a wonderful person and honest mechanic. He helped me out many times and I always stopped by the Mobile station when I was in the area to say hello. He will be missed.

It is with profound sadness that I write this memory of Richie. In 1983 I moved into the Interlaken community and was looking for an auto mechanic and met Richie at the Getty Station next to the High School. This was the start of a 40 year friendship that I value a great deal. Throughout our friendship his good humor, laugh, generosity and love never wavered. Richie was the closest thing to a brother someone could have. We shared cognac at Birthday and Holiday celebrations and Richie was there for me when we lost my son 2 years ago. He was a beautiful person who I consider one of my closest friends. I am not able to put into words how much he meant to my family. I will miss him tremendously but his infectious personality will stay with me forever.
My sincerest condolences to Maria his wife

My condolences to Uncle Richie“s Family. I am very sad and shocked to hear of his passing. Uncle Richie was one of my Favorite Uncles and we loved him dearly. He was a special man very loving and kind .Always embraced me and my kids with warm welcoming hugs. He will be missed greatly. I am very sad but I know that he is with his sister Martha (my deceased mother in law ) and his nephew Thomas McClain (my deceased husband ) .I know we have 3 Angels watching over us. See you all again one day.
