Richard Gray Strehlow of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on August 4, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones, at 77 years old. He was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on March 18, 1948, to the late Thomas Guston and Anna Mae (Mohler) Strehlow. Richard was a Machinist for Chevrolet Truck and Bus for many years. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy from 1967-1971. Richard had a love for classic vehicles, being the proud owner of a 1939 Chevrolet 2-Door Sedan, a 1957 Chevrolet Nomad, a 1955 Ford Fairlane, and a 1966 Chevrolet Impala Convertible. He was a former member of the Indy Hi-Winders Car Club. Richard married the love of his life, Cindy Lu McCord, on March 8, 1968, and enjoyed 57 years of marriage to one another. He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy Lu, his daughter, Brandi (Mark) Scott, his grandchildren, Austin, Rylan, Trey, Chloee, Kylee, Ricky, his great granddaughter, Aleya, his sister, Betty (Charlie) Emery, and his brother, Ronald Strehlow. Besides Richard’s parents he was preceded in death by his son, Richard Gray Strehlow, Jr., and his sister, Barbara Casilla-Flores. To celebrate Richard’s life the family invites you to join them on Sunday, August 10, 2025, from 3:00pm-6:00pm for a time of remembrance and sharing stories with them during his visitation at Flanner Buchanan Decatur Township. Flanner Buchanan is entrusted with the cremation arrangements for his family. The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Life’s Journey Hospice for the loving and compassionate care of Richard in his final days. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial contributions in memory of Richard to Life’s Journey Hospice 10241 E. County Road 100 North Avon, Indiana 46234.
