Richard Thompson

Richard Joseph Thompson, 76, of Ewing, N.J., passed away October 28, 2025, in Trenton, N.J. Visitation will be held 9 a.m., Monday November 10, 2025 at St. James Church located at 115 E Delaware Ave., in Pennington, N.J. followed by a funeral mass 11 a.m. Burial is to follow at the Ewing Church Cemetery.
Richard was born in Trenton, N.J. to Joseph and Eve Thompson on Dec. 28, 1948. He attended Notre Dame High School and graduated in 1966. Richard went on to earn an Associate in Arts Degree from Mercer County Community College in June 1969 and a Business Administration degree from Monmouth College (now Monmouth University) in Long Branch, N.J. in 1972 with an emphasis on marketing, management, salesmanship, and accounting.
After graduating from college, Richard worked for Perry Caravan Imports in Amsterdam, Netherlands selling different lines of travel trailers while also exercising cost accounting and forecasting functions. He spent his career working as an investigator and auditor with the New Jersey Division of Taxation. Richard was a skilled athlete, amateur radio practitioner and bicycle enthusiast. He was also active in archery clubs, and gun and pistol associations.
Richard is survived by his nephews Kevin and Christopher Mooney; his brother-in-law Maynard Redeker; and his niece Kara McChesney. He is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Eve Thompson, and his sisters: Kathleen Mooney and Carol Redeker.
