Memorial services for Richard Tidwell, age 77, of Roanoke, will be held on Thursday. August 21, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Matthew Colburn officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00-2:00 pm on Thursday, August 21 st.

Mr. Tidwell passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Wellstar West Georgia.

Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy Tidwell; two sons, Steven Tidwell (Jennifer) of Piedmont and Jeff Tidwell of Roanoke; three grandsons, Caleb Tidwell, Ethan Tidwell, and Tanner Tidwell.

Mr. Tidwell was born on March 13, 1948, the son of John David Tidwell and Marie Burke Vaughn. He attended Roanoke First Methodist Church. Mr. Tidwell was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam conflict and retired from Uniroyal after 40 years as a tire builder. He enjoyed watching any sports his grandsons played and was always at any event they were a part of. Mr. Tidwell loved spending time outside gardening and drinking coffee. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Pam Tidwell and Ruth Ayres; two brothers, Wayne Tidwell and Tommy Tidwell; his beloved cat, Spot.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Roanoke First Methodist Church bereavement fund (PO Box 40, Roanoke, AL 36274).
