Obituary of James "Chuck" Thompson

Funeral services for James "Chuck" Thompson, age 76, of Rock Mills, will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Bethany Lime Congregational Christian Church with Rev. Stanley Yarbrough officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday, August 25, 2025, and Mr. Thompson will lie in state at the church for one hour beginning at 12:00 pm on the day of the services.

Mr. Thompson passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Gayle Gibson Thompson; two sons, Scott Thompson (Stephania) and Jeff Thompson (Christina); five grandchildren, Dylan Thompson (Katelyn), Maison Thompson (Aliyah), Britten Thompson, Kasidy Lawler (Justin), and Tayla Umberger (Buddy); and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Dylan Thompson, Britten Thompson, Maison Thompson, Justin Lawler, John Lewis, and Greg Benefield.

Mr. Thompson was born on November 29, 1948, in Atlanta, GA, the son of Leroy Adamson and Mevline Calhoun Adamson. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Bethany Lime Congregational Christian Church where he served as a deacon. Mr. Thompson retired from Mohawk after working for 35+ years as a mechanic. He was a gun enthusiast, and he enjoyed spending his time outdoors, woodworking, and gardening. Mr. Thompson loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
