Lathan Funeral Home - ChatomJimmie Moss Tidwell passed away on August 20, 2025, at the age of 91. She grew up in Chatom. After raising her family and living in other places, she retired back to Chatom.
Jimmie was the heartbeat of our family, spreading love, laughter, and warmth wherever she went. Her legendary cakes brought joy to countless celebrations, and her home was always open, hosting weddings, showers, and gatherings that became cherished memories. With a twinkle in her eye and a smile that lit up the room, she was the life of every party. Her porch was her happy place, where she would sit and share stories, advice, and love with all who visited. Jimmie leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and love. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Jimmie is preceded in death by her parents Noah and Eaudie Moss, her husband William K. (Billy) Tidwell, her daughter Judy Carpenter Plant, and her sister Odette Moss Hicks.
She is survived by her son Harold David Carpenter, stepsons Gene Tidwell and Danny Tidwell; granddaughter Brittney Carpenter; grandsons David Plant, Jonathan Plant, Chris Carpenter, and Patrick Carpenter; sisters Faye Baxter and Daisy Howell; nieces Tina Hennis, Connie McDonald, and Christine Cumbue; nephews Tim Hennis, Stephen Baxter, David Baxter, and Harlan Howell. There are many loving extended family and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Chatom Town Cemetery.
