TRYAN, Richard "Rich" J., February 11, 2024 Age 54. Beloved husband of Shelley (nee Begola) for 28 years. Loving and proud father of Alec and Jenna. Adored son of Helen "Jean" and the late Robert Tryan. Dear brother of Bob Tryan.
Rich was born on April 3, 1969 in Michigan City, IN and was raised in Lakeside/ Three Oaks, MI until he attended Michigan State University. Rich graduated from MSU in 1992 with a BS in Fisheries Biology. Rich married (fellow Spartan) Shelley in 1995 and they raised their two children, Alec & Jenna, as well as their dogs Bella & Kaya, in Macomb Twp, MI.
Rich loved MSU (Go Green!) He enjoyed getting back to campus for tailgating and football games, watched all televised MSU Mens basketball games, and owned an entire wardrobe of MSU t-shirts which he wore almost daily.
Rich was an avid hunter, a passion that he shared with family and friends over the years. That passion led to his involvement in the Detroit Sportsmen's Congress where he was a member as well as a teacher/mentor to the students in the Junior Archery class for over 20 years.
Rich was also an avid "gamer" who enjoyed the camaraderie he shared with his "Xbox buddies". Rich also introduced Alec to gaming, who has grown their shared passion into a career.
A Memorial Visitation will take place at 2-7pm on Friday, February 23rd followed by the Memorial Service for Rich at 7pm at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons (Shelby Twp) 54880 Van Dyke @ 25 Mile Rd.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Rich's honor would be appreciated by the family to one of these organizations that Rich held so close to his heart:
Detroit Sportsmen's Congress (send check made payable to 'Detroit Sportsmen's Congress') 49800 Dequindre Rd, Shelby Twp, MI 48317. Donations will subsidize the course fee for students in the DSC Junior Archery classes.
Michigan State University CAPS program (donate through link below). CAPS is committed to connecting every student to the care needed to be academically successful and healthy.
Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS) | Giving to Michigan State University (msu.edu)
