Richard C. Tubbs Jr.

Richard C. Tubbs, Jr. of Roscommon died unexpectedly on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Rich was born on August 29, 1954, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Richard and Marjorie (Niver) Tubbs.

Rich married Kelly McCarthy on April 14, 2012.

Rich graduated from Flint Northwestern in 1972 and enlisted in the United States Army in 1974 through 1977.

Rich worked at Lear for 20 years as a Tool & Die Maker before retiring in April of 2021.

You won't find a bigger sports nut. Rich followed the Lions, Tigers and U of M football, never missing a game. Rich enjoyed working in the yard, putzing in the garden, spending many hours detailing his truck, and enjoyed spending time at the VFW each week. His wife and kids called him the Weatherman, as he always followed the weather. His favorite past time was spending time with his family. Anyone who knew him would always comment on how much he loved his grandkids.

Rich will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Kelly; sons, Jim (Katie) Tubbs of Big Rapids, Michigan, Matthew (Allison) Tubbs of South Boardman, Michigan; daughters, Megan Barton of Big Rapids, Michigan, Brooke Barton of Roscommon, Michigan, Taylor (Adam) Eno of Allendale, Michigan, and Mattie McCarthy of Grand Rapids, Michigan; grandchildren, Natasha, Harlee, Mia, Aubree, Harper, Landon, Kinsley, Miley, Morgan, Evelyn and Joseph; siblings, Lynn (Tom) Wilcox of Mancelona, Michigan, Gary (Tina) Tubbs of Alba, Michigan, Robert (Angela) Tubbs of Anderson, South Carolina, and Lisa (Anthony) Peters of Petoskey, Michigan.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Marjorie; sister, Debra Jo Buckwheat; and nephew, Robert Tubbs II.

Family and friends will gather on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 11:00-1:00 PM with The Memorial Service to follow at 1:00 PM, at Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors, 143 Lake Street, Roscommon, Michigan 48653.

If so desired, the family prefers memorial contributions be made in Rich's name to St Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors, Roscommon.
