Richard Steven Turner
March 11, 1944 – April 14, 2025
Richard Steven Turner, 81, of Smithfield, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025, at the HopeHealth Hospice Center. He was the beloved husband of Sheila (Mountford) Turner for 54 years. Born in Smithfield, he was the son of the late Elsie and Leo Turner.
He is survived by his son, Timothy, and his daughter-in-law, Shanyn. He was the proud "Papa" of Kaylyn Kellogg (Clayton), Timothy Turner, Abby Cotoia (Frank), Sophie Turner, Joshua Turner, and Brayden Turner, and great-grandfather to Clayton and Charlotte Kellogg and Adeline Mae Cotoia whom he adored.
Richard is also survived by his children Martin Turner (Olivia) and Mary Wiggin. He was the grandfather of Ryan and David Jones, and great-grandfather to Jada, Rya, Christian, and Cole Jones. He is also survived by his brothers Robert K, Kerry G, and Jonathan (Mike) Turner. He was predeceased by his sister, Nancy Austin.
Richard was a humble, gentle man whose greatest joy was his family-especially the love of his life, Sheila. Theirs was a true love story, filled with laughter, loyalty, and an unbreakable bond that spanned 54 years. A gifted craftsman and devoted gardener, Richard found joy in creating with his hands and growing with care-whether it was a perfect cabinet or a thriving tomato plant. His life was defined by quiet devotion, simple pleasures, and a love that will live on through the family he cherished.
Services will be private.

Always remember the great times we had with Dick T and Company. He led a wonderful band of maintenance staff, repairing the most impossible repair projects using creativity that worked out well. He will be sorely missed.
