Richard L. Valimont, Jr., 76, of Clearfield and formerly of LeContes Mills, Big Run and Sykesville died Friday, July 25, 2025, at his residence.
Richard was born on March 31, 1949, in Clearfield, a son of the late Richard L. Valimont, Sr. and Madeline M. (Stiner) Valimont.
He attended Clearfield High School before enlisting in the Army in 1967. He served honorably until 1976 and continued to serve in the army reserves until the mid 1980s. Richard's greatest badge of honor was being a disabled veteran. He wore his pride daily, almost always sporting his "disabled veteran" hat, or U.S. Army hats and jackets along with his cowboy boots. He was passionate about his beliefs on proper treatment of fellow veterans, especially emphasizing the importance of recognizing both physical and emotional disabilities. Whether through letters to the editor, conversations, or his frequent posts on social media. He made sure his voice was heard.
Following his military service, Richard was employed as truck driver throughout his working career. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman and a guitar enthusiast.
Richard was a member of the Clearfield Seventh-day Adventist Church. He was also a member of the Patriot Guard Riders.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Roger Valimont; and two sisters, Audrey R. (Valimont) Lippert and Martha L. (Valimont) Dixon.
He is survived by three daughters: Susan R. "Sue" Valimont, of Snow Shoe, Karrie A. Zeigler (Tony), of Snow Shoe and Vanessa Pierce, of Reynoldsville; four sons: Richard L. "Rick" Valimont, III (Terri), of Bellefonte, John R. Valimont (Kathleen), of Sykesville, Benjamin A. "Ben" Valimont, Esq., of Pittsburgh and James "Jimmy" Valimont (Bryan Rivera Cota), of Vieques, Puerto Rico; fourteen grandchildren: Ashlan Patches (Dillon Doroschenko), Kylen Patches, Shaydon Zeigler (Lorilyn), Dawson Zeigler (Mackenzie), Railey Zeigler (Kollin Wheeler), Matalin Zeigler, Alexis Bierly (Taylor), Brady Valimont, Ian Valimont, Keyauna Valimont (Noah Dawson), David Valimont, Christy Valimont, Hali Murray (Marcus Ryan) and Clayton Kos; five great-grandchildren: Letty Gene and Aubree Doroschenko, Hayeslee Ann Zeigler, Lincoln Kauffman, and Sunny Rose Dawson; three sisters: Verna May Lixey (Gary), Kandy Valimont-DeNardo (Fran DeNardo), of Clifton Springs, New York, and Sharon Valimont; Companion Vickie Wisor of Clearfield; and numerous other extended family members. He was also survived by his beloved feline, "Shy-Shy."
A Memorial Service for Richard will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 3:00 pm, at the Clearfield Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1056 Park Ave. Ext., Clearfield, Pa., with Pastor Zeke Perez, officiating.
Military Honors will be accorded immediately following the memorial service.
Memorial contributions may be be made in Richard's memory to the Patriot Guard Riders at and/or to the Band of Heroes Outdoors, 3029 Valley Road, Fishertown, PA 15539.
