Richard "Dick" Spencer Watson, 80, passed away on July 13, 2025 at Ashtabula Regional Medical Center.
He was born on August 13, 1944 in Ashtabula, the son of Halsey Spencer and Alta (Pettit) Watson.
A lifelong Ashtabula resident, Richard graduated from Ashtabula High School with the Class of 1964. On May 8, 1965, he married the love of his life, Holly Bottorf. Together, they raised two children and shared many joyful years. Richard began his career with Pepsi-Cola and Isaly's, then moved on to Bow-Socket, where he worked for 18 years until the company closed its doors. He later joined Ranger Express and eventually retired from Praxair, where he was lovingly known as "Doc Watson" by his coworkers. He was also recognized with the Million Mile Safe Driving Award prior to his retirement. He loved traveling to Florida - especially Key West. He had a love for John Deere and enjoyed spending time outdoors. Above all, Richard cherished every moment with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Richard is survived by his wife of 60 years, Holly Watson; children, Brad (Yvonne) Watson, and Julie (Jason) Grandbouche; grandchildren, Autumn (Tim) Covell, Andre Grandbouche, Paige (Alex Maiden) Watson, and Ty Watson; great-grandchildren, Aurora and Kai.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Thomas Watson.
Calling hours will be held from 10AM-12PM on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula. A funeral service will follow at 12PM with Pastor Jim Moyer officiating. Richard will then be laid to rest at Maple Grove Cemetery, Plymouth Twp.
