Wilburn- Richard "Dennis" Wilburn, age 76, of
Starke, Florida passed away on February 7, 2024, at his residence on Kingsley Lake, with his loving family by his side. Dennis was born in
Nashville, Tennessee on September 4, 1947, to the late I.D. Wilburn and Betty Lou Duren Wilburn. He was raised in
Nashville, Tennessee and moved to St. Augustine as a child. After attending St. Augustine High School, he proudly joined the United States Army, served two tours in the Vietnam War, and was honorably discharged after an injury. Following his military career, he moved back to
Nashville, Tennessee and met his best friend and forever companion, Judith Johnson. Dennis and Judy were happily married on April 19, 1974, and have enjoyed nearly 50 years of marriage. Dennis was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was the backbone of his family and was always hard working. Dennis worked in construction and later found his calling as a driver. He was a Bus Captain for Trailways and Greyhound for 15 years and then a Truck Driver for T & T Enterprises for 5 years. In the late 1970's, Dennis, Judy, and their sweet daughter relocated to
Jacksonville, Florida and in October of 1997, they made Kingsley Lake their forever home. Dennis loved being outdoors and especially loved days on the lake. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who also enjoyed watching Tennessee Volunteers and Jacksonville Jaguar football. He was a longtime active member of Kingsley Lake Baptist Church where he enjoyed praising and worshipping his Lord and Savior. Dennis had the most joy when he was with his family and his granddaughters. He was certainly a treasure to his family and friends, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Randall Wilburn.

Starke, FL; daughter, Leigh Ann Grey of
Fleming Island, FL; brother, Larry (Pam) Wilburn of
Interlachen, FL; sisters, Susan Perry of Monroe, NC and Rosie (Alan) Davis St. Petersburg, FL; granddaughters, Rachel Grey, Hannah (Ben) Sprague, and Lindsey (Jake) Lee; great granddaughter, Joleigh Sprague; best friend and fishing buddy, Steve Schwader; nieces, nephews, along with many extended family members and friends.
A Celebration of Dennis' Life will be held on February 12, 2024, at 12:00 pm at Archie Tanner Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jonathan Rodriguez officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home. A private interment will be held at Pine View Cemetery in
